I am looking for a NAS storage (about 1-2 TB) but only want to buy if it has secure FTP access built in or i can install some software (i use openssh for other purposes) to make it secure.
does any one has any suggestions/how tos?

Any linux based NAS box will have this. Consider the Synology DS209+ for example with two 1TB drives, or two 2TB drives in RAID 1 for redundancy.
It's not just a caddy, it's a fully fledged network attached storage device, running an independent Operating System, so you can do RAID, offload your downloads to it, and many many more things.

but i still have to put it in the drives (HDD) my self :undecided

MyBook World Edition is perhaps the cheapest NAS your going to find with HDD included, you can buy both 1TB and 2TB models. But TBH i would not recommend them, i had one for a while. It was slow, features were lacking and unless your confident in hacking the box and (void the warrenty) and configuring sftp yourself, here your probably better off spending a bit more and getting a more competent (true) NAS box like the Synology i linked earlier in this thread.
FYI the myBook is now used to prop a door open.
