Advice on current hardware
Hello guys,
Ok, in brief I would welcome some advice about my hardware (*imagines people slapping their heads with their hands*)
My concern lies with my PSU a 425w HiperPower HPU-4S425 which was inexpensive and I would like to buy a graphics card and a new PSU.
My requirements are:
- A Nvidia HDCP 1080p capable card and weak gaming needs (*insert sarcastic chrysis noob joke here*)
- A PSU that is a capable, tested and will suffice for extra hardware in the future.
In greater detail, I plan my computer to be a hd/media machine so I will be looking for a PSU that will be powerful enough for an extra Sata Blu-ray drive and a better mobo (likely a p45 gigabyte or p5q series 775 socket) and I am an interested in playing games in the furture.

For reference (my first built computer):
Antec 300
AC-ALP-7P Alpine 7 Pro (Artic Cooling)
425w HiperPower HPU-4S425
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
1 SATA LG DVD disc writer/reader
1 SATA Samsung F1 one TB
Asus P5KPL-AM
Re: Advice on current hardware
A 9600GT would run fine with your PSU.

Re: Advice on current hardware
Second the vx450, it is a great solid PSU and is running my 4870 at the moment. It's silent and has given me no issues whatsoever.
Re: Advice on current hardware
that is very helpful guys, big thanks!
i deciding between this and a ocz psu

I am unsure both look great but I am no expert... again which one ?
Re: Advice on current hardware
Sorry can't help you choose between those two, but if you're happy to pre-order you could go for this: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/450W-...-year-Warranty
Comes out at the same price as the vx450 but might be better since I think it has more connectors and is modular.
Sure it will be a rock-solid PSU too, and apparently it's made by seasonic just like the vx450.
