Core i7 Xeon on standard Mobo ?

Ive been looking at the Xeon i7's and there lower TDP is epic in comparison to the 'mainstream' versions. So i was wondering can you sue the Xeon chips in a normal X58 motherboard?

Re: Core i7 Xeon on standard Mobo ?

the rampage 2 thread on xtremesystems has been talking about these, bios updates are coming out allowing full BIOS functions now, so check the motherboards bios updates. it will work on most 1st boot and the bios flash will show its correct name.

Just keep in mind that for the equivalent or lower price than the 920, you're looking at a 500MHz lower base clock and half the L3 cache.

Will be a nice alternative if (when?) the 920 and 940 disappear from the shelves though.
