Re: Whats going on with ATi prices?

Has it really crashed at £180+ ? In July the HD5870 should be out with 1200 shaders and possibly 512bit GDDR5

That price is only for XFX cards, I don't find them of good quality, proper makes like HIS and Sapphire cost more.

Re: Whats going on with ATi prices?

Doesn't really matter though, as long as they hold out for the length of the warranty. By the time the warranty is up, it probably won't be worth all that much anyway.

It is indeed! If I had known I could have bought a 4890 for less than £130+VAT I would have waited a couple of weeks instead of buying my 1GB 4870. I'm not bothered though as the only real advantage of a 4890 is the ridiculous overclocking capabilities of the card.

Re: Whats going on with ATi prices?

The 4870X2s are now ~£230-240 as well which is just amazing value. Seem to be a few good bargains around recently.

maybe, but OCUK do have a special agreement with XFX.
***EXCLUSIVE Premium Priority 2 Year Warranty***

In the unlikely event of your card failing within 2 Years, OcUK will replace your card with a brand new one, pending testing within our standard RMA/ testing terms and conditions
So you should get similar support.
TBH i don't see why they can't do this with any branded cards, why the end user is made to wait IMO is stupid.

Re: Whats going on with ATi prices?

I think they're coming down in price as people are starting to hold on before buying a Dirext X 11 card. Don't know much difference it will actualyl make though. Direct X 10 wasn't all that big of a deal from what I heard...
