Motherboard suggestions for Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor?
Hi looking to upgrade motherboard, CPU and graphics card so that I can do some video editing using Adobe Premiere CS3.
I'd like something mid-range in price and have my eye on the Q9550.
As far as graphics cards go, Premiere seems to like nVidia so my current thinking is the GTS 250 PCI-e 512MB.
Please can someone suggest a good motherboard to complement these two?
I had thought that I couldn't use a non-SLI enabled motherboard but is it correct to say that as long as the motherboard is Intel P45, I can use a single nVidia card with no compatibility issues?
(In that case, the Asus P5Q Deluxe would be around the right price range - £120 + VAT)
Re: Motherboard suggestions for Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor?
P35/P45 would both be fine. In fact there's no particular reason why a P43 wouldn't do the job, it's not going to make a massive different which motherboard you pick, as long as it has the specifications you need.
For instance, good overclocking headroom, or high quality onboard sound, or a certain number of SATA ports etc.

Which of those would be best for a video editing suite containing 4 SATA drives + 1 eSATA?

Only the Asus P5Q Deluxe has eSATA and onboard sound so I think I've answered my own question!

After a bit more research, I bought a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R.
It was £30 cheaper and had a very similar specification to the Asus P5Q Deluxe. (I don't need Crossfire.)
