    26 Inch screen!

    Hi everyone,
What 26inch monitor would you reccomend I buy? I want to use for gaming and graphics work. Also does anyone know the best way of calibrating the screens? I've seen you can buy special devices however they all seem to be very expensive.

    Thanks!

The one I'm most interested in so far is the Samsung T260. Cost is approx £295. Also considered a larger 28inch Hanns.G HG281D. Only £20 more however I don't know how the screen quality compares...

    Re: 26 Inch screen!

The samsungs are OK. Similar story with the 27" LG monitor. They aren't the best for viewing angles and the colours take a bit of work.Tbh I'd set the monitor up yourself, to how you want it. Bit of fiddling here and there and you'll find the balance you like.

The dell 2709wfp would be what I would buy in that size, better panel and pretty good warranty service (much better than I've had from samsung and LG). Good £100+ more though.

The samsung and LG I would have for a TV/PC monitor, plugging in consoles etc.. But for actual work the dell gets my vote.

I'd buy the Dell but to be honest an extra £100 put me off straight away. Reason I want to calibrate monitor properly though is as a photographer its important the colours are accurate.

    Thanks for the input.

All the screens mentioned are TN type displays which are pointless for photography especially since most are 6 bit displays. You need to go for IPS,PVA or MVA type displays and get a colour calibration device too.

I would be looking at an H-IPS HP L2475W which can be had for under £400.

    Check this thread out:

The cheapest display for any colour work would be the Dell 2209WA which has E-IPS LCD:

I would get the Colorvision Spyder 2 Express to calibrate it:

Wow. feel very ignorant. never heard of these types.

However, heard the human eye cant see the difference between 8bit and 16bit colour so why would it matter?

Because TN displays aren't even 8 bit.
