    Asus A8NSLI Deluxe

I have the above board and had 2X1 gig running in dual channel . I than bought 2X1gig of same spec but different batch memory. If I have slots 123, 124, 234 filled system is fine and boots into windows, though with 124 filled windows only sees 1Gig. With all 4 slots filled, PC turns on but there is not spash screen or anything else.

Some one suggested increasing the northbridge voltage but could not find it.
I have manually reduced the speed from 400MHZ to 333 but still no joy.

How much RAM do you have in total? Also the increase in voltage to the NB seems plausable.

Look in the manual, Chapter 4 is the bios section, see the JumperFree Configuration - this is where you can set your CPU, DDR, NB and SB to "cook" by adjusting the voltage.

You can down load the manual from Asus. Link http://dlsvr.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/so...32-SLI_Dlx.pdf

I've the same MB as you with 2x1GB, so if you can't get your ram working post it to me and I'll see if I can get it working ... honest I'll send it back to you

    Re: Asus A8NSLI Deluxe

Could be it simply doesn't like 4GB of ram, which I don't think was possible when that motherboard was originally made.

Have you checked you have the latest BIOS in there?

    Re: Asus A8NSLI Deluxe

The specs of the board claim "up to" 4GB, but given that you have at least one combination where you only see 1GB of RAM from 3GB suggests to me that one channel *at least* doesn't like the number of *banks* of RAM. What kind of mix of single-sided and double-sided modules do you have? That may be the problem.

I had an ASUS S939 board back in the day that wouldn't boot on 2 sticks of RAM - I booted with one stick and flashed the BIOS and it was fine after that. So a BIOS update might do you, if you can still get it from the ASUS website.

When you boot up does the bios detect 4GB? And when you say windows sees 1GB where are you viewing this. Assuming you are using win7 (beta or RC), do you have a final release of windows you could try: XP, vista etc
