I've decided that the Antec 300 is just too plain for me! I wanted something a little more flashy - I've chosen the Antec 900 - is this a good idea? And are all cases the same - so will everything I've chosen still fit?

Or if you can recommend one? that would be brilliant! my budget is up to about 80 pounds.

    Cheers,

Re: Some help buying a gaming desktop online please!

If their is not much price difference the Antec 902 is generally the better buy as it has much better cable management or so i hear.

*Edit* As for monitors the lower the response rate the less "ghosting" their is on the screen, genrally anything less the 8ms is fine for gaming and the norm seems to be around 5ms at the moment. The resolution is the amount of pixels on the screen, so for example my monitor is 1680X1050 which im quite happy to game on with my medium card, should you go upto 1920X1080 this is classed as Full HD and is the best res if you are going to be using the PC for bluray and high def movies or want the best quality and picture from your games, more pixels = sharper image/better quality, the downside is the higher the res the more pixels the more powerful GFX card you need, plus if you use AA/triple buffering etc at that res you are gonna need more memory on the card also to cope

The 902 is almost £100 everywhere. I bought a NZXT tempest instead of a 900 and dont regret it for one minute

http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...MPEST&af=50All the ATX cases will take a ATX motherboard so dont worry it will all fit.

You might want to look at the HAF932 as well if you want something a little more flash, 3 huge 230mm fans 1 120mm at the back and toolless design, cracking case tbh. Scan normally put it on today only at around £93.

Re: Some help buying a gaming desktop online please!

Right - case-wise I don't like the look of the HAF932 - it looks like it cools really well but it's quite pricey and looks like some industrial machine (quite menacing!). I think I'll go with the Antec 902 - its £90 and has great reviews.

Monitor-wise, thanks for the review - looks good. Can you explain about the bit where it says 'the S2209W is restricted to a VGA port and a single DVI socket. Superficially, the lack of HDMI might seem like an unfortunate omission'?

Does this mean that it doesn't do HD or what?

    Cheers,

Re: Some help buying a gaming desktop online please!

Just thinking about ease of install, the antec and NZXT are a little more involved, the HAF is a piece of cake as everything has push button locks.

*Edit* If ya can get the 902 for £90 bite their hand off.

*Edit2* The lack of HDMI is nout tbh, as long as its got DVI don't worry about it as it will display the full 1920X1080 in either VGA or DVI.

Thanks for all advise. Can the motherboard tray in the HAF come out? Also, I've heard it has no filters on the grills so how do you deal with that?

Re: Some help buying a gaming desktop online please!

The motherboard tray in the HAF is fixed but the amount of space inside is insane even with everything installed, correct their are no filters in the case so it means you have to clean it out about once a month or 2. *Edit* If you want a real life pic i can take one for ya as my cousin has it.

If you like the 902 and can get it for £90 its a very good buy at that price tbh just bear in mind if you aren't a active member of their forum you are gonna pay delivery of about £10 while since you have over 20 posts here scan will ship for free for ya.

Not full tower cases but should easily fit all ya parts in. Heard very good things about the scout.

They look good - and compared to the Antec 902? (I seem to love this case!)
