mouse freezing/ skipping problem!!
just built a new pc, heres the specs:
thermaltake lanbox case
abit fatal1ty f-190hd motherboard
intel q6600 g0 processor
4gb crucial ballistix tracers ddr2
4gb kingston hyperx ddr2
akasa 850w psu
nvidia 9800gtx gpu
seagate barracuda 250gb hdd (windows installd on here)
wd raptor 74gb as secondary
i have a problem i just installed vista ultimate 64bit, firstly in system information it only shows 7.5gb of ram (i have been told that thats somthing to do with my 9800gtx)
secondly when im using the pc, the USB mouse frequently goes off and then switches back on after a few seconds! i tried the mouse on another pc and it was fine! BTW its a microsoft habu mouse and when it goes off all the lights on the mouse also go off.
need help pllleeeesssee

Are you running in power saving mode? If so, goto control panel and change the plan settings. Choose advanced and disable USB selective suspend. Either that or choose balanced.

checked that, it was allready disabled.

Check for latest chipset drivers. Does the light going off & on correspond with wiggling the cable and connectors? Sometimes the cable on mice is loose or frayed, causing connection problems.
Do other USB devices do the same thing? What does the PC's event log say? Does the mouse do this in other ports, either on the back plate or on the motherboard USB headers?

another option:
Is it connected to your monitors hub? I've had issues in Vista whereby the monitor hubs would switch on/off for no reason, while using the PC.

wow it was a cable problem after all! i took the wires out from behind the desk and plugged it in straight to the front of the case and its been working fine!
