Athlon 3200XP Vs Socket 754 Sempron 2800
Hi all,
Apologies for 2 topics on this subject, last one I promise.
I'm scrapping together an old PC for my parents and I have a choice of CPU/mobo/RAM.
On the one hand I can give them an Athlon XP3200+ with 2gb PC3200.
Alternatively they could have a socket 754 Sempron 2800 with 1.5GB PC3200 (less RAM slots on this mobo).
I'm aware that the XP3200 comfortably beats out the Socket 7 Sempron 2800+, but I can't find anything about how the Socket 754 version compares.
At the moment they're getting the Athlon, but I'd appreciate some confirmation.
Cheers!
Re: Athlon 3200XP Vs Socket 754 Sempron 2800
I would say the XP3200 would be faster than the Sempron 2800+ even though the latter is a newer architecture the former is clocked much higher and has twice the cache too!

the xp3200 would easily beat the sempron
