Why does this Toshiba DVDROM drive work in PIO mode but refuses to read discs and locks up my system when running in ATA33?
Any ideas?

You are using the nVidia SW IDE drivers?
Yes

That's your problem.
I don't know if the just released Beta drivers have fixed this - you could try them, or just roll back to the MS IDE drivers.
I'm using the new drivers. I've also tried it with the older ones.
My mate (who's drive it was originally) couldn't get it to run in anything other than PIO mode either. And he was using the MS IDE drivers.
Any ideas?
