Just wanted to share.

I'm sure many of you have seen this guys reviews before for PSU.

The most indepth PSU reviews I've ever seen. He seems to have done a whole load more update PSU reviews recently.

The guys indepth knowledge on PSU design, componentry is also second to none, and he even actively de-limits PSUs in some cases (removes OPP) to see just how much power PSU designs can really deliver before they fall over.

What Gabriel Torres doesn't know about PSU's aint worth knowing.

Just thinking of getting a new PSU at the moment, might take a look, any recommendations on a good buy up to £100, just got an XFX HD 4890 Black and might get another HD 4890 so enough to power both.

So many choices. A quick search on the bay shows best bang for your budget to be a Seventeam 850W modular for about 90quid delivered. Although I'm sure you can get away with less. Suppose it depends if your planning more upgrades in future. I think the 850W shares a similar design to the 750W reviewed on HardwareSecrets

I would probably go for either of the following PSUs:

If you can go for the latter one it is the best in its class according to the reviews.

According to this review it powered an overclocked Q6600 and a pair of 8800GTX cards with no issues:

AMD recommends a 600w PSU for two HD4890 cards in crossfire and this is probably verging on the safe side anyway:

Thanks! BTW do you know if he disassembles the PSUs before or after testing it? Does it mention it anywhere?

Usually, they are tested, dissasembled for the pictures, and then tested to the limit.

OK, thanks. Just it wouldn't be so fair if they were disassembled before load testing because if they weren't reassembled properly, not enough solder at joints for example, it could impact the results.

Cheers for that but I thought I'd go a little extra and get the 1000W Be Quiet Dark Power Pro

I figured I'd be upgrading motherboard, CPU and ram soon and I have 7 HDD's (6TB) 3 Optical Drives and will go for another HD 4890 so wanted to make sure I had enough juice, In another post I was advised this was major overkill but it's done now and at least I don't have to worry about the PSU again
