Hi all
have two 120gb (non-raid) hdds and want to add another how????
If I wanted to go down the SATA route would I need a new motherboard?, and would I notice any speed difference?

What motherboard do you have now? How many other IDE drives?

2nd question first; no, you could use a PCI SATA controller assuming you have a PCI slot free, but you would also need SATA hard disks, or something like the Abit Serillel PATA to SATA converters to enable your IDE drives to run off an SATA controller. I wouldn't expect any great performance hikes, though.Originally Posted by mobo
As far as your first question, most IDE controllers will support up to 2 hard disks off each channel, 1 master, 1 slave, so it depends on how occupied your IDE channels are. You could always get a PCI IDE controller and plug more drives into that if you're pushed.
