Well my system was working fine(installed new hard drive, booted etc) and then when out for a meal, got back and tryed to boot it up and all i got was "Hard Disk Boot Failure Insert System Disk Press Enter"
Ive tried setting SMART off, setting hard drive as priority boot and even unpluged all drives except main drive. I put the windows 7 disk in and it just ignores it but when i tried an xp sp2 disk it loaded setup fine(dont want to go down that route). Any ideas?

The drives are fine, i just installed ubuntu and all works fine but cant access my windows 7 installation.
I fixed it now, dunno how but the error turned into a boot mgr missing and then made a vista recovery disk.
Strange. Be sure to run chkdsk /r anyway though to make sure there's no bad sectors - check the SMART data for anything out of spec too. It does take a good while to complete, so leave it running while you're out/overnight.
Think i found the issue that caused it, took out one of my 250gb drives as i finished transfering data which must of messed up the boot menu (replaced it with a 1tb in its place).
Yeah, if the 250GB drive had a bootloader on it from a previous OS install, if if the BIOS detected it as the first device and tried to boot from only that drive, then the PC would fail to boot. If you still want to use the 250GB drive, just make sure that it's not the first boot device in the BIOS. Glad you got it sorted
Hmm, new problem... i cant load the windows 7 64bit disk only the vista recovery or xp disk loads, 32bit/54bit windows 7 just gets ignored and it loads bootloader instead even though i told it to boot from disk. ANy idea? Ive even tried it with no hard drives in and it went straight to bootloader lol
Sounds like a damaged disc - are there any scratches on it? Try burning a new one.
yeh ill download a new iso of it later (stupid virgin traffic management).
There's a gap in TM between 3 and 4pm you know? Although I doubt it will finish in 5 mins...
