    2nd hard drive problem

Just bought a 80 gig deskstar to replace th exisiting 2 and 3 gig drives in my parents PC. The second drive has always been in a caddy and I have swapped various drives in and out and all show up in windows explorer as a drive.

This new drive doesn't but does show up in device manager and in bios so the sys does recognise it.

What am I doing wrong? I have checked the jumpers and the drive is set as slave. I need to see it so I can format the drive then copy windows across.

    Any ideas?
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

It sounds like you need to format the drive ....

What o/s are u using? if its 2k or XP, right click my computer -> Manage -> disk management
This will allow you to create partitions and format the new drive.

Alternately you can use a dos (persoanlly I use a modified win98) boot floppy (containing fdisk and format), slightly more involved but still quite easy, the files can be downloaded from bootdisk.com
