Lost Data
as seen here - http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=16649
my 120gig back-up drive has lost all my data, i tried using search and recover on it and its telling me that the drive is either unformatted or corrupted, the drive registers in the bios and in windows no problems but i can't read any data on it.
Any software i should try or should i give up and format it?

im sure there is a simple thing or 2 you can try but i cant remember them
but 1 thing you can try is to get your self a "copy" ;) of ontracks easy recovery pro ive used it before to recover stuff from drives that have been repartitioned and its been quite successfull but as said i think there are some simple steps that can be tried first if some 1 cares to post them

Was it FAT or NTFs formated ?

NTFS format, which i gather makes it harder to recover :(

How urgent are you for this to be done (i hope it dont have your CW on it !)
If you cant wait untill next week, your welcome to come down here, wack it in my system and ill run some tools on it. No promices anythign will work, but its better than nothing.
I have a space 80 gig maxtor we can copy the stuff over to.

It has got my course work on it but i've got that on a cd-rw round here somewhere, so i'm not hugely desperate for it. Gonna try scanning it with a couple of other programs i've been recommended in a bit and see what happens.

Did I tell you about "Stellar Phoenix Fat & NTFS" Knox?
That's what I used when I had similar problems
