    Advice/Price Check: S939 Base Unit

I'm thinking of selling the base unit below to a friend and was wondering if the price was right

    X2 3800 S939 (20)
    1.5GB RAM (15)
    160GB (15)
    Asus A8N Motherboard (20)
    6600GT GPU (10)
    DVD RW (10)
    Seasonic 400W or Coolermaster 380W PSU (15)
XP (15) serial attached to mobo

(£40) Antec NSK4000 II case - this will be new as he has limited space and can't accommodate the Akasa Eclipse I was going to give him.

Would it be better (for future proofing) if bought him a higher specced base unit for £200 or just under? I don't want to sell him a unit which will be too slow in a year or two.

Main uses - office, surfing, burning DVD/CD, children's games etc.

Re: Advice/Price Check: S939 Base Unit

For normal web browsing, word processing and old games the PC should be more than fast enough TBH! My notebook has a 1.7ghz Pentium M,1gb of DDR1 RAM and integrated graphics and it is still fast enough for web browsing and word processing even using newer software.

I would look at a Coolermaster Elite 300 case BTW as it has one 120mm fan included and is cheaper than the Antec case:

The NSK4000 is very poor value now as it used to be under £30.

I agree the NSK is poor value, only reason I selected that was because of the size, the computer desk my friend has can only accommodate a certain height.

Will check the Coolermaster in case the height is the same as the NSK.

Re: Advice/Price Check: S939 Base Unit

I don't think you'll be able to build anything noticably better for ~ £200 - I did a quick budget quote recently and even with a sempron and only 1GB RAM I couldn't get the price much below £180...

I suppose the advantage of new kit compared to the S939 is you can upgrade it at a later stage with faster processor.
