Re: Samsung Ecodrive 1.5tb
I have two setup, one arrived dead from Scan, but they sent a courier round to collect it and now all's dandy.
I used to have a pair of WD Black's 1TB and these feel just as good to use, I've had no issues with speed or anything.
Some comparison charts :

They run only just slower than a WD drive that's billed as a fast performer (I think that's what the Black range is about..).

It'll be 1am before I can even use them :( However, they're running at a cool 29ºC (even when being thrashed with this rebuild) compared to my 750GB Seagates, which are at 41ºC!
Wow, that is a difference in temperature!
How are you getting on with them? Happy?
Did you do some checks on the drives before putting your data on?
How are they doing in the RAID set-up?
So many questions... ;-)
Re: Samsung Ecodrive 1.5tb
The Synology does a byte-for-byte copy when you set up a RAID (I'm using RAID5). This would detect errors for you :)
I'm pretty happy with them, they're not quite as fast as my other drives (only 5400 RPM), but are more energy efficient and pretty quiet.
