    Halp?!

Yo, I have a set of Creative 750's. I believe the amp is broken on the sub causing a fussy sound on all speakers (apart from the middle channel). I have tried load of different sources with different cables, and I don' think its static, all has exactly the same result.

Apart from getting the amp on the sub fixed, which will be expensive. Would it be possible to connect a external amp............ like this http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Amps/teac_ag75d.htm (ofc I would need 7.1), or would that not work?

    Cheers

Oh and BTW I know this has already been posted in the lifestyle section but nobody uses it

    Re: Halp?!

Yes, it's entirely possible to do this ;-)

Of course, dependent on how the speakers currently connect to the sub you may need to re-wire/terminate them to be compatible with the Teac. Not a big job. Regards the sub, you would need to open that up and rewire, perhaps adding a pair of posts on the rear if they are not already present, as the sub will need to be driven directly from the Teac. The internal amp would need to be completely disconnected. Again, not a big job if you are technically minded.

Do not remove the internal amp, that needs to be kept in place to retain the sound signature that you are used to. Creative would have optimised the box size, accounting for the amps displacement.

    Hope that helps, K22

    Re: Halp?!

I see, thanks for helping, its greatly appreciated. Are there any other receivers/amps that are cheaper which would to the trick for this. My amp/speaker knowledge is terrible.

I'm sure the re wiring could be done, we have all the tools.

Also, I have fiddled with the cables and have managed to get 3 smooth channels through (center and both sides)
Does anyone have an idea what could be going wrong?

Google suggests its something to do with overheating/capacitors.
