Lightbulb Need to buy a new Mobo for existing system! Please help!

    Guys,

I have decided to go for a new Mobo after encountering numerous problems with the present one.My budget is Rs 10,000 INR(approx 210 US $)

However many things have to be kept in mind before settling on a board. In decreasing order of importance, these are:

1)Should have at least two PCI-E 16X Slots.

2)The PCI-E slots should be as far away as possible from the SATA ports and other important connectors(My first board MSI P7NGM Digital was rendered useless as my huge Graphics card had physically covered all the SATA Ports)

3)Should support at least 8GB of DDR3 RAM(if it crosses my budget, then DDR2 will do).

4)Should have at least Intel P35 or P45 or later generation chipsets(See sig for my other config)

5)Should have at least 1600MHz or higher FSB.

    6)Should have a basic cooling solution(Optional).

    Current Rig:

    C2D E7300 @ 2.66GHz| ASUS P5Q-E | Palit Radeon HD4870 1GB DDR5 | Corsair 800Mhz 2X2GB 5-5-5-18 | Seagate 500GB 7200.11 |Corsair TX 650W| Corsair CM 690 |Dell 19"|Creative t6100

Also please suggest a suitable UPS,mentioning Power in VA and brand.

    Thanks

I have a P5Q-E and had similar problems with the SATA ports that you did with your previous board, not sure if you are having the same with the P5Q-E, however £1.14 sorted my problems.

To be honest running a 19" monitor, and a processor at 2.66Ghz ain't cutting edge, I'd look at either a larger upgrade, or the problems with your current mobo.

Just wondering what you're issues are with the Asus board?

My problem is a long and frustrating one.

After I turn on my PC after a gap of ,say 5 hours, here is what happens in exact sequence:

1)I switch on the main power
2)I switch on my UPS & my Monitor.
3)I switch on my Power Button
    4)Power LED(Blue) turns on.
5)HDD LED turns on for .3 secs and then goes off
6)Monitor turns from Active Power Mode to Standby Mode.
7)All the Cabinet fans and SMPS,CPU and GPU fans are running fine.
8)BIOS does not go to post. One Long Three Short Beeps indicating No VGA Detetcted.System freezed.
8)Now I press the power button for 3-4 seconds.
    9)Machine boots fine.XP/Vista runs fine.

This does NOT happen everytime. On the other hand, sometimes, during restarting from OS,this has occurred too.

I have checked all power connectors.I have changed my CMOS battery.Reset my BIOS.Even updated my BIOS with the latest ROM file.I have tested my Gfx Card.Works fine in other machine.I have tested RAM with Memtest86+.Ok with no errors.HDD is perfectly OK,tested with Seagate Seatools.I have a brand new Corsair TX 650W PSU,which is OK.BUT still my problem persists.

So I have pinned down the problem to either a faulty Mobo or a faulty UPS( 600 VA Liebert iTon). At the moment I'm running it from direct power supply.Lets see.

    Here are my BIOS details:
    Model: P5Q-E
    Version:2101
    Chipset: Eaglelake
    BIOS type:AMI
    BIOS Size:2048K

Anybody with any suggestions?Anything I have overlooked?

B]BIOS does not go to post. One Long Three Short Beeps indicating No VGA Detetcted.System freezed.[/B]

Maybe your gfx card pins or mobo slots are faulty / dirty but im only guessing here Have you tryed testing other components into your mobo and switching PSU's to identify the issue? you say it does nt happen all the time so i would nt worry bout it

I can understand that you want to find out why cus everything happens for a reason^^ if you figure it out lemme know

    "Gigabyte-GA-EP45C-DS3-iP45-Express-S775-PCI-E-20-x16-DDR2-3-1066-1333-1600-SATA-II-ATX"
I'd prolly go for something like this. Then an im an AMD man myself so if i was you i'd do some deep reasearch for a mobo that has all the features you want. Once you have your list go read up on newegg for users reviews or list your chiose on the forum some where.
