Primochill is probably the best coloured coolant around atm, but it's up to you, you could just run distilled water and coloured hoses for the bling

This looks pretty cool, does it stain the piping/resevoir badly? Also What is your opinion on Tygon Tubing - does it offer any benefit for the additional premium

The EK performs worse than the XSPC afaik, although the difference is minimum, the XSPC is cheaper

    No argument there then!!

A top is a piece that goes ontop of the pump and alters the direction of the water (often from front in, front out, to top in, front out) and increases pressure and head, giving better performance.

For the flow meter, I am 99% sure that this will do the job fine, http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...oducts_id=1214

    Cool, thanks.

Just hook it up to the Aquaero, if you're not sure then email tom(at)chilledpc(dot)co(dot)uk and I am sure he will know
    Great thanks again Peter

One other question , I read in an earlier post that certain tubing can be heated and pushed onto barbs without clips - is it safer to buy clips as well? My last system used push pull connectors.............

    Re: Watercooling pointers

You have a few options here.

    - You can use 1/2" barbs and tubing, such as 1/2" tubing, which would require clips (plastic, metal or cable ties)

    - You could use 1/2" barbs again but with smaller diameter tubing such as 7/16", this is harder to get on that 1/2" tubing, but it is alot firmer and doesn't require clips (dip the ends in hot water so they "stretch" over)

    - You can use compression fittings which are like barbs and clips in one, the tubing goes over relatively easy and is then held in place with the outer ring. (I think this is what your last setup used).

Now, option 2 is best looking IMO, although option 3 can look good. All will perform the same, and probably be equally as strong/leak proof if you are careful.

For piece of mind you could use clips but if you leak test properly and make sure everything is on properly there is no real need as the tubing grips onto the barbs so tight.

    Re: Watercooling pointers

I agree with Peter, the distilled water and silver is the least problematic cooling solution, with coloured tubing. The only problem is the fluid in the reservoir will be clear.

As for fittings and pipe. I went with the 1/2 fittings and the 7/16 pipe as it takes up less room in the case and bends with few problems.
As for fitting the pipe onto the 1/2 fitting then the hot water method works well or you can warm the end with a hair dryer and push it on.
This gives a very good fit but for piece of mind I also used
    http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...roducts_id=116
Most people would agree that this is excessive but you do hear of people who have 7/16 pipe blow off and drench there expensive computer in coolant.

One last thing, do you want to measure temperature or flow??
as the link that is shown is for a temperature probe.

I'd like to measure both if that is possible and disply them on the aquero

    Re: Watercooling pointers

After reading the specification of the Aqua Aquaero, there is no mention of flow rates only temperature.
For the flow you would have to purchase something like the flowmeter pro 3.6

    http://www.pc-water-cooling.com/en-us/dept_18.html

I would also get something a little less expensive for the temperature readout

    Re: Watercooling pointers

Ah yeah, my bad, the one I linked to will take care of your water temperature.

For flow rate you will need to get something else, although I can't find anything in the UK. It's pretty pointless measuring flow though, if its running that's ok, no need to add un-neccesary restriction into the loop.

depending if you want to measure water or component temperature then piggin's temp sensor will be better

I quite like the idea of the clear pipe and primochill black coolant - does it stain the tubing/resevoir badly/quickly?

    Re: Watercooling pointers

It will give a very small amount of discoloration but you will never notice unless you change the colour of coolant.

    Hi Syd,

Just noticed your post via the new first ever HEXUS.net forum round up

I have one of the Aquero's you mentioned and I'd say its worth the money if not for the automatic fan control.
Just thought I'd pass on a little inside info as they wont appear on the Scan site yet but these are due in soon.

I know I'll be adding them to my rig
