EVGA GTX 295 CO-OP (Single PCB)

    Hi,

I bought this card and have it installed in my PC. However, I know by SLi, that you do not double your memory.

However, this card is advertised as 1792MB, I have looked in Everest and it says 896MB per card.

Does this mean that I have 896MB of graphics memory or is the Single PCB version different to the Dual PCB/SLI GTX 280/etc...

    Thanks!

Nope. Same card as the dual PCB, just it is literally on a Single PCB. In GTAIV I only have 896MB to allocate for example, so it is 896MB of memory per chip. I hope this explains it for, and enjoy the card. I plan to get a water block for mine (assuming no good air blocks come out) within the next 2 months.

Damn, they shouldn't be allowed to get away with advertising 1792MB on the card, sure there is 1792MB but they SHOULD say 896MB per chip.

It's a good card nonetheless, on Dead Space I was getting around 30-60 FPS on my GTX 280 and now 60 FPS constant with higher settings!

I also get double the framerate on Crysis, on higher settings too!

That'd be because Crysis tends to handle SLi configurations better. Single a 295 is basicly two 285s on one board, with slightly less enabled cores (unless you go for a Mars, but they cost £1029.99), in SLi (which of course you know).

Memory isn't to much of a concern. In GTAIV I get really good frame rates. The really werid thing is that for a CPU intensive game I never seem to go over 30% load. :S

That'll likely change with Supreme Commander through.

I'm sorry I can't hear you my computer is on....

Seriously, through, not noisy at all, my case fans produce more noise than it (granted, my case fans are crap).

It's not noisy unless it's really heavily processing, it tends to make a fairly audible "whirring" noise on Crysis.

My case is a very quiet case (Antec 1200) and this graphics card is the loudest part.

nightkhaos: Two 260s, not 285s. Else I would have bought one. I wish they did have 1GB per GPU like the 280/285, as for 2560x1600 they aren't worth buying.

I run 1920x1200 and they are definately worth buying at that res. Anything higher and I can imagine them struggling like you say.

Re: EVGA GTX 295 CO-OP (Single PCB)

At 1920x1200 they're fine, but so would be an HD4890 for most games, and it's less than half price, a lot less in fact, barely more than a third. An HD4870X2 would certainly keep up, and is 2/3 the price. If the GTX295 was maybe £270-£280 I'd perhaps recommend it a bit more, but at £350 vs the £230-£240 you can find X2s for, really it's inexcusable.
