    DDR3 memory kit

Hi all, I almost managed to order all the bits for my new system today - amongst them was an order for 2 x 6Gb OCZ 1600Mhz CL7 kits; While dabs reported they had stock, it turned out that they didn't. Unfortunately I only found this out after the order cutoff everywhere else for Friday delivery.

I'm thinking eBuyer will be the supplier for what I now intend to get for Saturday delivery (I think they have the lowest saturday delivery charge).

Question is what kit to get - they don't have the one that I'd planned on getting so I'm looking at:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158576
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164761

But I'm open to suggestions on supplier/kit - Cheaper the better but not cheap at the expense of reliability or (too much performance).

I noticed they do have 12Gb kits too - should I be going for one of these rather than 2 * 6Gb kits, do they really have to be hand matched or do they just bung 3 dims from the same batch in a box anyhow? They have worse timings than the kits I mentioned but will that make a massive difference?

I do intend to overclock if that has a bearing on things.

I did read an article on anand recently suggesting that even lower spec kits do give reasonable performance and that you don't get enough bang4buck when buying higher rated kits - what do you think?

    Re: DDR3 memory kit

its easier to overclock with less dimms, so i'd say go for 6 gb (3x2GB) + i dnt think u'll need any more that 6 GB.

Unfortunality i cant post links because im new here, but i'd recommend 6GB of Corsair 1600mhz 7-7-7-20 timings. I found it on Scan(dot)co(dot)uk. scan code = LN27443. only £104 for extremely good RAM

    Re: DDR3 memory kit

I'd recommend my RAM (GSkill 6gb 1600mhz Silver Edition) as they have dropped in price and now around £80.

Cant remember where I got em......memoryconfigurator.com or novatech.......will post when I remember :S

    Re: DDR3 memory kit

Thanks all; I ended up going for the OCZ Gold 1600 (8-8-8-24) kits (*2); I very nearly did go for the Corsair but figured I'd get enough out of the OCZ gold kit - hope it works out OK! As it turned out I needn't have rushed to get the kit as I didn't get a chance to put everything together; that will have to be next weekend now. I'll post how it all went once I'm done.
