Re: New upgrade
TBH a new hard drive and a fresh install of windows will probably be enough as your system seems well specced enough!
I would look at getting a Samsung F1 1tb hard drive or the equivalent Western Digital model:

The only major upgrades I could think of would be:
1.)A quad core processor like a Q9550 for around £170 if your motherboard supports it:

2.)A new graphics card. The HD4890 will be a good upgrade when compared to your HD4850 for around £144:

IMHO I would just get a new hard drive and save the money for a major upgrade when the Core i5 and DX11 graphics cards become mainstream in the next 6 months to 12 months.

Re: New upgrade
Haha you have the same main components as me :D
I agree with CAT-THE-FIFTH - a new, faster HDD should be a good upgrade to make the system less sluggish. However, have you tried reinstalling Windows as this could make a big difference to speed. I doubt upgrading the CPU would make a noticeable difference in desktop performance, especially for the amount of money you would be spending on an upgrade.
