    Please help me!!

My computer is bust recently. As the repair time is kind of indefinitely. (pareticularly the motherboard)
My Setup was: P5K Premium, 4 x 1 Gb OCZ reaper 8500, BFG 8800GTX OC, Watercooled Aquagate System with OCZ 700W Gameextreme PSU.

Initially, I was thinking about getting a new system (IX58 + i7 920) but kind of feel guilty when I calculated about needing extra 600-700 pound to do that.

So I thought about getting a system without changing the CPU.

I like overclocking and I like the idea of SLi or X fire at this moment.( probably will do it after my GPU fried) I also like the idea of asus express gate (very handy to my clumsiness)

so I wonder some one could suggest me the setup without busting the bank.
One thing I know is I can't wait for the repair stuff to come back... I am fed up using my netbook..

On ebuyer, I found P5Q premium (160 pound ish) cheaper than P5Q deluxe ... Am I right to go for P5Q premium then? If I go for these, I will buy 2x 2Gb Reaper 8500 ram so when my replacement ram arrive, I willl have total gb 8Gb ram.

I also found Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 (100 pound ish).. Should I go for that? + some DDR3 Ram?
or Should I go for P5Q3 Deluxe come with free 2x 1Gb 1333 DDR ram? (150 pound ish)

I do intermittently edit HD video stuff as well

Please guide me to my purchase

    Re: Please help me!!

    i'd go for:

    ASUS P5Q-E mobo (£105)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (£170)
    Reaper 8500 4gig (60ish?)
XFX HD4890 1GB (£145) add another if your budget will allow
    OCZ 700W modXtreme PSU (£70)
    ANTEC 900-2 or 1200(£95-138)
    Samsung spinpoint F1 1TB (£90?)
    Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (£45)
    Artic silver 5 (few quid)

    Hope that helps.

I think I will try sticking with my q6600.
    I got a used motherboard (P5e3 premium)
so I am now thinkng of a DDR 3 ram... wonder whether 1333 or 1600 as their price are reasonably acceptable.. but i wonder about the 1800 OCZ platinum kit.. any one got experience with its overclockability?

I would just buy the mid range, DDR3 is cheap at the moment, so try to get teh best for your money without overspending. RAM speeds make little difference anway.

I have done some extensive research... pity I didn't do much before acquiring the P5E3 premium..
the OCZ platimum or gold kit has major compatibility problem.. so now I am opting for the reaper series... as the price is not much different.. I went for 1800mhz

Is it worthwhile upgrading the my BFG 8800GTX OC version to ATI 4870 or 4890?

I would certainly upgrade it especially if you edit HD videos etc.I would get the 4870x2 or the 4980 - I wouldn't bother with the 4870 unless your on a budget And you could always sell your 8800 GTX
Pittsburgh steelers, maimi hurricanes, Wisconsin badgers, Bristol Rovers, Man United - thats right i love sports
