Acer Aspire 6930 - Modern Games?
Hey guys. I've been out of the game for a while but I've just been recruited to find my brother a good laptop, for cheap as possible.
The best deal I've found Argos' refurbished Acer Aspire 6930, which for the money seems to be a bargain.
But, while I can see some benchmarks here and there, I don't really know how it would handle modern games. I was hoping someone with one (or something similar) could describe how playable a few games are on this system? Just to give me an idea of where it's at really!
E.g. games: Empire Total War, Stalker, Fallout 3, Crysis
Thanks people

it does L4D at a good 55 fps, the laptop itsself is a nice peace of hardware

The 9600M GT is basically the laptop equivalent of a desktop 9500GT:

The webpage I linked to has descriptions of many modern laptop graphics cards and a comparison of the desktop equivalents. You should be looking at least at the laptop equivalent of a desktop 9600GT or 9600GSO for reasonably decent settings in modern games like Crysis for example.
Look at reviews of the desktop 9500GT GDDR2 and GDDR3 to get an indication of how well games will run on the notebook.

Wow very useful link there cat; last time I was choosing a laptop I definitely don't remember a site as useful as that! Thanks very much, will be my main tool I think

Shame this doesn't have the blu ray drive but otherwise it is a great looking prospect for a main system.
