I really hate this case and i would like the same one they use in the black widow builds (TJ07) as that case could be re-used for upgrade upon upgrade, this cosmos S the big fan on the side of the case has gradually fell apart and the fan fins have broken off when ive reshut the case which is pathetic. The monitor i have is really nice but id like a full HD one to get the most out of my games and i could probably sell it at £200 and the new monitor i would like is £210.99 so no big loss there and i would definatly like a new HDD or even a SSD

The whole reason for me wanting an entirely new system isnt to beat this one or i think it'll run better, its more the fact that i love building new computers and the money really isnt a problem.
I've had an offer for this pc for £1500 (but i think its a scam) cause that price is very good, so if it turns out to be real i'll take it because its only £500 more to get the new components i want (which id spend on upgrading this one anyway) so it all works out.
So why don't your just rebuild your existing system into a new case, add a new HDD and monitor and be done with it?? If you can sell your system for £1500 then good on you! However you are actually taking that person for a ride if it is a genuine offer as your current system is not worth that much now and for £1500 you could build a better system using brand new components.

Well, like I said, why not just use the 4870X2 still, even if you build a new system, just don't buy a graphics card and move the 4870X2 over. £1080 sounds a bit more like what your PC is worth.

Just upgrading to a Q9550 and a faster hard disk will cost under £250. Sell the Q6600 and the upgrade will be well under £200. Even adding a new monitor and selling the old one will mean the upgrade may cost £300.

If you want to build a new system I would make sure that I would look at keeping the HD4870X2 and upgrading to a top end DX11 card when DX11 games start becoming more common. The HD4870X2 and GTX295 will still be the most sort after DX10 cards second-hand IMHO even at that time as they are the fastest DX10 cards out there!

Re: Price check on my system

Yeah thats a good idea from both of you. I would feel kinda bad if it is genuine but id still take it, as harsh as that may be its not like there getting a terrible system for the price, even though they could build a better one for that kind of cash.

Funnily enough i rebuilt it all today as the wires were everywhere and somehow they still are, cleaned the dust out and connected everything back. Now my cpu not clocked is nearly 70c when it was 45c overclocked fully so i think im going to have to re apply some more thermal paste and definatly get a new cooler. I shouldnt've bothered ha!

Re: Price check on my system

I would say that getting a Q9550 like sammorris did is a good idea. The Q6600 still can be sold for a decent amount whereas the Q9550 has plummeted in price!! The E0 versions overclock very well it seems but run very cool too! The Q9550 will also increase the value of your system when you do sell it as it is one of the faster 45nm Core2 quads. Also the newer 32mb single platter hard drives may also be a relatively cheap upgrade option too!

Re: Price check on my system

Ok i've thought of two options now.

If i really wanted to go ahead and do a over-decent upgrade on this pc

Monitor, HDD, Case, CPU fan, Q9550, keyboard
    Costing around £800

    or

I could keep my PSU & GFX and sell the other components for around £700 with a new build costing £1500 it equals to the same ammount of me spending £800

So its even stevens! or i could just do a small upgrade and get a Q9550/monitor for £380 but that would just annoy me as i hate this case and cpu fan.

Actually the first option would cost you less! Sell your existing monitor ,CPU and case and the upgrade would cost far less than £800!!

You can get between £80 to £100 for the Q6600 and even a poor condition cosmos S should be worth around £50. If you have an aftermarket cooler for the Q6600 you can either retain it for the much cooler running Q9550(and hence it should run the cooling fan quieter if it is a PWM one) or sell it also. Of course you can sell your existing monitor for around £200 too. When you take this into consideration you will probably spend less than £600.

Re: Price check on my system

If you're sticking with the same hardware, the Galaxy 1KW should be alright, I'd bin it if you wanted to go triple+ graphics later on as the units are pretty problematic beyond about 700W.
You seem to despise your current case so change that regardless. Seriously though, selling your existing PC is either going to stand you substantially more cost, or in this case, is going to rip someone off at least a couple of hundred quid, or of course both.

I would not bin the PSU as if it is in decent working order the OP could also sell this too to fund the upgrade to a new PSU.

I certainly wouldn't bin it, maybe sell it if you wanted a better one. Either was just pointing out that the Galaxy 1KW is not a 1KW PSU, because that isn't immediately obvious.

Re: Price check on my system

I do not, but i can take some if you like the quality wont be that good though.

I would rather sell it all seperatly but its on ebay now for £1250 + £100 Postage
But if you make an offer of £1100 with £100 postage

(as it will take ALOT to post this off, nearly 50kg which is £89 then all the packaging materials)

    So £1200 in total, heres the link with all the details;

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=190321876817

If it doesnt sell, im just going to sell the parts seperately

try somewhere like interlinkdirect, I don't think they charge anywhere near £100 for that weight.
