Re: TV/Monitor Malfunction
If somethings new its nearly always best to just return it, y didn't u get a direct replacement of the same TV modal? I don't understand ur fault it does seem weird it does just sound like a bad connection. U r quite lucky when i first got a new LCD TV after a week i turned it on and smoke was comming out the top which was well scary
Re: TV/Monitor Malfunction
According to my dad the TV is 2 years old and he bought it off ebay through some Power-Seller UK store. Came with a years warranty, which unfortunately doesn't help.
It's a pity he won't let me have a closer look at it, he won't even let me plug it into anything in case it exacerbates the problem.
In case it helps the brand and model is: hitachi L42VP01U
Re: TV/Monitor Malfunction
Contact Hitachi UK and see what their repair policy is. If it is two years old spares should be available.
Re: TV/Monitor Malfunction
Apparently IT IS a problem with the PSU and there is a replacement part available. We've gotten an expert to do the dirty work and hopefully I'll be questing in Albion in 1080p in a short while. :)
Re: TV/Monitor Malfunction
Got the results back and it isn't too good.
PCB has blown and needs replacing, they're charging £300 for the part and £100 labour. Cheapest I've managed to find a replacement PCB for the Hitachi L42VP01U is £365. Anyone know if there's a cheaper alternative elsewhere and would it be reasonable to think I could fix this?

Is what I'm looking at, at the moment.
