Re: Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power
If your current setup is the one in your system specs, I'd look at a good 450w to be safe, thoes core 2 quad cpu's are not exactly power light.
That thermaltake is overkill and unless it's an extended design then that Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power psu will be no shorter
ok I cannot find a thermaltake "smart power" range, only Purepower and Toughpower
The toughpower is slightly longer than a standard ATX, the purepower is standard atx length
both the TR2 and Litepower series don't come in 700w models (and I'd not consider them as great psu's anyway)
Re: Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power
I don't know much about the Be Quiet! model but this Nexus PSU is among the quietest and smallest you can get -

At such vanishingly quiet levels, this is no mean feat. That it is achieved by a modest, unassuming product with a name like Value 430 is even more surprising, especially when you consider that the other top contenders are high end models from giants in the power supply field. It even begs the question of why you'd pay big bucks for a fanless PSU of similar power rating.
I'd definitely consider it.
Re: Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power
Thanks for the replies. The only reason I got the TT PSU was I was stuck a few months back when my Zalman packed up. I had to buy it locally. My setup then had a GFX that needed external Power. The Nexus looks promising but probably a bit more than i was looking to pay (don't imagine I'd get that much back for the 700W PSU)
Re: Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power
Could probably get £20-£30, maybe even more on Ebay for the Thermaltake, that leaves £30-40 to pay for the PSU, that's a pretty good deal IMO.

Really looking not to spend hardly any , hence the be-quiet psu
Re: Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power
£30 for the lower rated, louder Be Quiet!
~£30-£40 for a better rated, silent and smaller Nexus PSU.
You'd be better off the the Nexus, no doubt, but it is your money ;)

Surely the Be Quiet unit would be free if the Nexus was £30?
Re: Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power
A blueray drive can wait - their prices WILL drop the longer you wait :)
I'm building a HTPC atm too, my case requires a slimline slotloading blueray so I will have to wait a long time to get a BR drive :P

Well i bought a xonar slim on Friday & realy want drive so I can play a movie or two. Otherwise there's no point in changing the PSU - thats the only reason :)
Re: Be-Quiet 350W Pure Power
How's the xonar slim? What did you pay for it? Any software problems?

£112 + Delivery
Couldn't get it to work with Win7 RTM x64 but working fine on x32. I read the post on avs forums before i got it. I have a movie on the HDD which has True HD & it sound amazing (Hooked up to an Onkyo HTX-22HD). Hence why I'd like a bluray drive

Heh, sorry, shouldn't be watching The Wire and posting at the same time.
IMO, the Nexus is worth the extra money, but I can see the appeal of the cheaper Be Quiet.
