Recomend me a cooler block
See left for my system specs.
I want to replace the Zalman fan cooler with a single block cooler without a fan. I'm also going to replace the two 80mm fans on the CPU side of my case with PWM fans and build a shrowd connecting them to the cooler, reducing the number of fans in the case by one, and making them react the CPU load.
Right now the fans are on low, and nothing gets hot, but it is noisy enough to annoy me, I think I can get it queter.
There are loads of nice beefy Socket 771 coolers that would fit, made for 2U cases, but I can't really fand anything for Socket 775. This is the kind of think I'm after:

I'd try and source a Dynatron P12G or P15G, or if you can fit one in, a P66G.
Re: Recomend me a cooler block
Thanks Peter, I'll take a look at them.
Re: Recomend me a cooler block
Rob one out of a 775-equipped Dell?
Maybe find out the spare-part numbers for Optiplex or Precision's running this socket? Then try direct from Dell.
Just looked - try Precision T3400

SKT775 Heatsink for QF 123032
There is one for 18p on buyer; I got five thinking they were the old style aluminium ones that I could saw them up for vrm heatsinks.
They are new style heatsinks with 3 heatpipes. Build quality is so so.
Re: Recomend me a cooler block
Thanks for that, just what I'm looking for by the looks of things, and you can't argue for 18p

Forgot to say the heatsink I mentioned is the same as the one you posted with but with three heatpipes; interested to know how it performs.
