    Printer Woes

Hi, I have a report which runs in SQL Reporting Services to create labels for our warehouse. They combine order details with picking locations and are basically stuck to every box we pick and send out.
The report typically produces 100 or so labels, and the output is sent to a Zebra 6 inch printer connected via a Parallel cable to a PC reserved just for this task.
The Ops Pause the printer and Spool the labels to verify the number matches the box quantities.
If the total number of labels is a high number, an error occurs “Error while printing (0x80004005)”
and the Ops have to scratch that run and start again.
In the past I have resolved the issue by restarting the PC and the Printer, checking the cable is not jammed up against a wall and desk, and resubmitting the job.
What else could I look at??

    Cheers
    Rob

When we had our zebra printers installed the software provider used drivers from seagull scientific, as they had a lot of problems with the zebra ones. Ours are used in a pretty simple way, basically priting of large numbers of a single design, rather than being an automated system like yours.

Yes, unfortunately the pc and printer is also used for ad-hoc barcode labels and that s/w seems only to work withe Zebra drivers.
