Looking for a 1Tb Hard drive

I'm coming here for a recommendation because I have found the normally excellent www.storagereview.com a completely outdated source of information.

As the title suggests I'm looking for the best 1Tb drive (or possibly larger if worthwhile) hard drive money can buy. I have looked at eco or Green hard drives but I'm really after performance over power consumption. The drive will be used for data storage of predominantly photos but it's for a professional photographer who uses a high end, high megapixel camera and shoots in RAW. He uses Lightroom and needs speed hence I am considering a WD Black WD1001FALS. I have heard good things about Samsung EcoGreen F2 drives so am open to your suggestions.

I believe the F2's are 5400rpm. If you can wait a little longer, the new 1TB F3 is 7200rpm though and also uses 500GB platters.

I just bought the WD 1TB Black Cavier drive, you do hear it but its fast. I got mine from www.scan.co.uk for about 68 quid. Good drive to boot, can't comment on other brands as I have used WD drives for years

I'd go with the WD black as well if speed is the priority.

Yep, I saw something on the Samsung F3 drives with the 500Gb platters, can't wait for reviews and pricing. Personally, I am looking at purchasing the Western Digital Black drive soon, the warranty and performance reviews appeal to me.

WD black or the Samsung Spinpoint F1, both are based on a 3 platter design, the WD black generally comes out on top as it has excellent I/O peformance.

I really like my F1, it runs quiet and cool and is fast. the WD black will be noisier...

The Samsung Spinpoint F1 is cheap, fast, quiet and runs very cool.

I recently bought some Samsung Spinpoint F1s for £50-60 each. Currently £55 each at aria and £60 at SCAN (but free shipping,so depends how many you buy).

I currently have 6 in a video capture/edit machine I recently built, and they work great.

WD and Maxtor drives have a habit of just exploding in mine and my friends experience.
