    Micro computers.

    Hi.
I am doing some work experience type thing for my A level computing. At the place i work (a hard drive place - where they make/design the hardware that writes a pattern on a hard disk so the computer knows where it has saved ur data.)

Anyway, i got a 'Embedded computer system' from them about 20cm x20cm. It has CPU, RAM, graphics, LAN, ps/2, 2xIDE, and 1xFDD ports on it.

I want to put it in my hi-fi case to make a tiny computer. Howeve i dont know how to power it. There is a hard drive molex connecter on the baord, but it apparently neesd to plug into a slot board or something to get the power.

I know it is a long shot, but does anyone happen i know what the hell i am talking about and can tell me how to power it?

    Thanks
    Will

you'll probably need to find out the make and model of it, then you should be able to find out the power requirements or Power Supply needed to power it.

Do you mean an industrial single board computer type thing?

Got any specs on it, then we can look up the PDF and see what it needs to run off of.

I trhink so. On the box it says embedded-PC modules PC/104. The thing that it was running in before had a load of slots. another sticker says ITEM: Prox-1630. Cleron Socket 370 CPU card w/VGA/LAN.

Hehe just looking through the manual, on the first page is a website. http://www.iei.com.tw (why are there no slapping head smilies!?)

Does it not have any etchings on the circuit board? Or maybe on the chipset. May have to remove a heatsink to see them - although if its a mini board it probably wont.

*wants to slap head again* just saw the model....JUKI-150. It says ISA BUS as well, does that mean i could power it through a normal motherboard ISA port anyway?

    LOL "Beer Foamy"

Yeah it's ISA, but I think from having a look at the manual it might function as a standalone too

Right, so its a device designed to be inserted into a server motherboard for the purpose of monitoring the status of that board and probably other similar boards (hence its own NIC) in the farm.

As it looks to get its power from the ISA slot its not going to be of use to you as a small form factor device.

Edit: Hmm. Says "External Power Connector of 5V input" and from the picture appears to have a molex. Still, cant find any windows drivers for download on the site. You would have to email them I guess.
