Re: Core i7 PC Build! Help with choices plz
Maybe wait for Lynnefield (i5/i7) ?

I see that. I also replicate the results. Maybe it's because I was doing a few other changes at the time. I still recommend CAS 8 over CAS 7. Handles better when overclocked. Though why Corisair charge so much baffles me. My CAS 8 RAM cost me £76.

Thanks for all the help guys. I should be ordering it all tonight.
I'll let you know how the build goes. Hopefully better than my last one. (Never buy a £12 psu). :embarrassed:

Just remember about the heatsink! My best guess is that it will fit, but I'm not sure... I would wait until we get a solid answer on that. I don't want you to get all the stuff and find that it doesn't fit is all. Unless ScanSure covers sure an occurance?
Re: Core i7 PC Build! Help with choices plz
Good news... Scan have said if the heatsink doesn't fit you can return it within 7 days.
Linky.
Now go buy that beast! :)

I have to admit you've lost me there mate. :) Wouldn't the lower latency give higher overclocking headroom and hence better stability when OC'd?
The OP isn't OCing much though, so the cheaper the better I reckon, parhaps even 1600MHz stuff is overkill. :) Could put the extra into a better GFX card if the rig is primarily for gaming.

Yes, if I were refering to overclocking the CPU, lower latancy RAM would be better, but I am refering to overclocking the RAM as well. The Dominator heatsinks are overkill, hence you can ussually get 1800MHz out of the RAM with no problems, 2000MHz with a low ambient (less than 25 degrees).
In fact most CAS 8 modules I have worked with handle just fine when clocked to CAS 7 speeds.
And I remember myself saying "I won't overclock it much" and my first OC going to 3.8GHz. :)

Don't we all. :D
I've never thought much of the dominator heatsinks personally tbh, or any RAM sinks for that matter, but to each his own I guess. :) I'd still buy the cheaper stuff...... :naughty:
Good luck with whatever you choose anyway OP, keep us updated on how you get on. :)
