    Replacement for xfx Revo64

If I purchase a different raid card (my original was the XFX Revo64) and add the three drives to the first three ports can I do this and keep my original array?

I think my card has failed and my data is still on the drives (obviously because it was originally RAID 3) the card software is saying that 2 of the drives are unassigned rather than failed.

Suggestions, hints and tips greatly appreciated.

Also suggestions for backup solutions !

To preserve your RAID array any replacement card would need to be using a similar chipset. If not exactly the same then at least from the same manufacturer with FAQ supporting cross-compatibility.

Usually different chipsets will not see competitors RAID arrays. It's particularily rare to see RAID3 at a budget price point where RAID1,0,5,6,10 and 0+1 are preferred.

yup as vimeous says your going to have to source another card, burn the original while chanting XFX backwards seven times while copying to a new hdd/array and never mentioning revo64 again

    Re: Replacement for xfx Revo64

a temporary fix is to go into the card's bios and reassign the drives back into the array. but good software raid cards can be had for a pittance my recommendation if you can get the drives back in the array without losing data you should:

    1. Restore Array
    2. Backup Data
    3. Praise your religous icon of choice
    4. Get a better Raid adapter (this is a Great choice)

    Re: Replacement for xfx Revo64

If you can't restore the array on the card, you might be able to save the data through software and restore to 1 bigger drive / a new array with new drives and card.
Runtime do some well regarded software but I'm not sure of cost.
Not sure about free software for raid retrieval.

However, the revo cards often used to come up at scan for a tenner, might be worth contacting them to see if they have any left (they're not listed on the site) or have a trawl through classifieds / ebay for a cheap replacement revo card.
