    Razor and Creative?

I have a Creative Fatal1ty Pro Gaming SB and looking for some new headphones, my first throughts was to go with the Fatal1ty headphones, but looking at the Razor headphones, it seems the quality of the Razor products from packaging to the product itself is 100% better then anything from Creative.

Thing is I want to use headphones that work with my card, ie the plugs, but the Razors are all USB apart from one.

So... has anyone ever used Razor headphones with Creative?

Do you think SB would still work in games if you used the Razor headset even if it is plugged in USB instead of the card itself?

The USB style headphones completely bypass your sound card as they basically have their own built in to simulate 5.1 or 7.1 (megalodons).

What are you looking for in a pair of headphones and how much ? do you need a inbuilt mic or are you happy to use a clip on one?

Ive personally got a set of Roccat Kaves http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gamin...d/ROCCAT-Kave/ and can't fault them running through a creative USB 5.1 sound card as my laptops soundcard is laughable, not to say the creative one is much better rofl.

If you are happy to go with a set of standard stereo headphones i would be looking towards a pair of Sennheiser HD 555 http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec.../Product.html#

Hey Jasp what is the sound quality on the Kave compared with, say, something like a pair of Grado SR60i? (They are around the same price I believe.) How are they for general music listening and movies? Just interested because gamer headphones have 5.1 surround but I don't know how they stack up to more audiophile solutions when it comes to sound

    Re: Razor and Creative?

I looked into Razer ones before. Sennheiser PC350 gaming headset is better.

Don't get the ones with multiple speakers inside the headphone, they have terrible sound quality in comparison and are actually less good for directional sound than modern hardware acceleration - it's a gimmick!

Not to bad to be fair, then again my comparsion is a pair of Sennheiser 201s and my laptop speakers lol. Still they hold pitch and volume well and the 5.1 works really well in movies and games that support it. The stereo sound is good but not as full as the 5.1, luckily my soundcard as the ability to to reroute the sound to all 5 speakers and anything below 100hz to the sub... so music sounds much fuller. Having not got a pair of something better on hand i can't really comment further, needless to say i'm happy with them so thats enough for me.

Here's an explanation of why you don't need multiple drivers in the headphones: http://timefordvd.com/tutorial/pf/DolbyHeadphone.shtml

I been looking at the 350s, but they meant to be really bad for bass from reviews.
