    corsair case (Obsidian 800D)

    http://www.corsair.com/products/800d/default.aspx

so the case has finally been released with a very modest £209.99 RRP, anyone thinking about splashing the case for the fully featured and innovative case? or is it too much for what they are offering?

anywho im going to wait about a month and hope for a price decrease of about £30-40 and perhaps buy it to replace me stacker

its alot for a case, but it looks great, and has some great features but the price is phenomenal at the mo but there really is no other cases for me that match it!

    CAMON PRICE DROP!

    Re: corsair case (Obsidian 800D)

If it drops to around £130-£145 I'd seriously consider it, as it is the most gorgeous case I've seen in time. At that price though, hardware definately comes first... My P182 does the job pretty damn well. I'm most interested in the sound levels from this case, as quiet computing is a must for me, an area that is the P182's forte.

Edit: At that price, I think I'd be afraid to put anything inside it!

Too tall, narrow and plain looking and without the acoustic lining and non-window options of a Silverstone fortress. I wouldn't mind hot swap drive bays and a trap door to access the CPU cooler back plate. I don't think it's worth £200+ but priced at any prime less than £137 and I'd consider it for a short while before I conclude it's too tall, narrow and bland looking.

From the video I watched they might want to make it with a bigger trap door because access to 2 out of the 4 bolts on a CPU cooler is not that great a feature.

I thought your purchase was imminent (based on the thread title)

I think it's a nice case but I refuse to spend that much on a case ever since I bought a SuperFlower Aluminium case a few years ago for £125 . It had 6 (yes six) 80mm fans and sounded like a helicopter with all fans on.

Don't quite seem how you come to the comclusion that it's too narrow, seeing as it's wider than the fortress.

I do see it as a little odd that corsiar have only gone for 120mm/140mm fan mounts but seeing as any thing larger leaves you with a very limited range and are harder to get hold of this does make some sense.

Again the fortress is a good example here, it's 180mm fans are only made by silverstone, they are not sold retail, the only way you can get a replacement is by contacting sliverstone directly.

Must admit I'm not keen on it's looks, simple and plane are ok but it's just a little too square, compaired to the fortress, the rounded edges just make it look so good while still plane and simple.
Although the window is a nicer shape that the fortress window, but the fortress also has the non-window option.

Finally the price, it's just too high for me, but I doubt Corsair is makeing them (or having them made for them) in large enough quantities to get the price lower.

I just hope this is a prelude to more corsiar cases, esp lower cost ones.

And this case has got some really good features I've never seen on any other case.
