    1TB for Storage

Hey guys, im thinking of getting one of theses:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1TB-S...ache-89-ms-NCQ

just for general storage, however I noticed it is only 5400rpm, how badly does this affect transfer speeds?

    Re: 1TB for Storage

Transfer speeds for that particular 5400 drive are very good (~88mb/s avg), faster than some 1 year old 7200 drives.

I hope this reply (http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...ml#post1754972) from Funkstar posted on another thread asking a similar question will help although sadbuttrue's reply seems to put numbers to the drive you're looking at.

BTW, I hope Funkstar doesn't mind me linking to his reply. All credits to him!

    Re: 1TB for Storage

If the 5400rpm bothers you that much there is a 7200rpm 1TB Hitachi for basically the same price. I just bought it and so far it runs perfectly fine as my storage drive, although it does have just a 16MB cache compared to 32MB on the Samsung -
