Athlon II X4's released?

Hi folks, this is a tribute to CAT, he's always bringing us news, who knows this might even be old news.

Any way the pricing looks good for these quads, interesting is the energy efficient version.

There were some tentative listings for the Athlon II X4 630 a while back.

However there seems to be many more listings for the X4 620 and X4 630 now:

A 45w X4 600e or X4 605e and a 785G based motherboard would be a great combo for an HTPC.

It would be interesting to see how much the Athlon II X3 processors will cost too.

What are the architectural differences between the 7xx and the 6xx series?

About to build a fairly budget system for someone and was looking at the X3 720 for them......but those X4 prices seems a steal!

The Phenom 700 series have 6mb of L3 cache and 512kb of cache per core. The Athlon II X2 processors have 1mb core and no L3 cache whereas the Athlon II X4 cores has 512kb of cache per core and no L3 cache. It would not surprise me if the 95w TDP on the Athlon II X4 is quite conservative.

The Phenom II X3 720 should end up faster than the Athlon II X4 630 in most instances. The only instances where I can see the X4 630 taking a lead is in software which makes effective use of all 4 cores.

IMHO if the Athlon II X4 processors are around the £60 to £70 they will offer decent value. However once they breach £70 there is the X2 550BE and X3 720BE which are better value for money and are easier to overclock. There is also the X2 545 which is around the £65 mark too.

The problem is that the X2 545,X2 550 and X3 720 are great value for money processors for the enthusiast since they offer excellent performance for a relatively low price and of course there is the added allure of trying to unlock them too!

The most interesting Athlon II X3 and X4 for me are the low power variants since if they do only 45w TDP it would be excellent not only for HTPC use but even a normal desktop. Having a triple or quad core will be better for multi-tasking and also things like editing home videos for most people over similarly price dual core processors.
