differnce between core duo, and core 2 duo?

    hi

recently got my self a new lappy with a t2500 core duo chip in it, and previously saw core duos as striped down core 2s, with less cache. however this chip has 2mb cache :S so im wondering what the differnce bewteen that, and the equivilent core 2 would be. all i can find is that mine does not suport 64 bit.

it doesnt really matter, as this isnt going to be used for much, im just interested.

I think that they are slower clock for clock, would have to compare benchmarks.

    IIRC

    Core Duo = Yonah 533fsb 2MB cache

Core 2 Duo = Merom core 4MB cache 64bit enabled; early ones with 533fsb are socket M, 800Mhz are socketP

Core 2 duo were made from core duo architecture, P4 died there, IIRC.
