    Core i5 750 and Core i7 870 first review

    More details here:

    http://translate.google.com/translat...7/1717513.html

The Core i5 750 does look quite interesting though. In some benchmarks it is very close to the Core i7 920 whereas in others it is much slower.

Re: Core i5 750 and Core i7 870 first review

..we can see that the Lynnfield core Core i5 750 has a very good overclocking potential, may have been air-cooled 4G, then the same for the Lynnfield core Core i7 870 , which is worth looking forward to overclocking potential.

    Hmmmmmm, very interesting.

Power consumption looks down too which is good too. Not so worried about overclocking as these are ES AFAIK which always seem to do better than retail samples though. Hopefully the mini-ITX form factor is not left to the Core2 as this would be great for SFF builds. I just hope that at least ATX and mATX motherboards are under £90 though otherwise it maybe still worth going for a Core i7 920.

Exactly - CPU and motherboard can only wait for the official release and then to prove.

Yeah I wonder how much these things are going to cost? Anyone have any idea?

Surely it would be a bad move on intel's part to spec them too close to the i7 but give them a vasly lower price tag.

Re: Core i5 750 and Core i7 870 first review

Another review comparing the Core i5 750 and Core i7 920:

    http://en.inpai.com.cn/doc/enshowcont.asp?id=6804

It looks like the enhanced Turbo Boost function is having benefits IMHO in single threaded operations as the Core i7 in theory should be faster clock for clock.

Looks like I have a new recommendation for a £100+ processor!!

Plenty of people play games at 1680x1050 including me! Higher resolution colour accurate displays are expensive you know!

Which is all good, wide screen and all that, but 1600x1200 is an archaic resolution usually reserved for old 4:3 crt's.

Yeah suppose so but graphics performance shouldn't be that different between the two.
