Are there any S939 Heatsink that can be fitted directly in the case
As the tittle. I have no idea how I managed to put up with that much noise, but I'd like a quick swap without the hassle of taking the motherboard out etc if possible.

Yup. Artic cooler 64 pro. Just peel off the plastic, slap it on and pull the lever (more or less) :)

If the plastic motherboard bracket is the same as the AM2 one (which I pritty sure they are)
Then the Akasa AK876 x3 should fit fine as well and slightly cheaper than the AC 64pro

So sould Akasa Nero AK967

Which is 120mm fan based so will be quieter but you will need a deeper case.
Check your case size, if it's under 200mm wide then 120mm fan based tower coolers will not fit.

If it's a small case you could use the Scythe Shuriken which is very quiet. Note it doesn't cool high TDP CPUs (95w or over I think) too well AFAIK but under that it's great!

lh is 939 & rh is AM2

Yep. AC 64 Pro very easy to fit. Toolless and motherboard can stay where it is. Performance isn't bad either.
Edit: You mentioned noise. Does your motherboard not have fan control?
Re: Are there any S939 Heatsink that can be fitted directly in the case
Thanks. The case is a Coolermaster 201 (very old). I do not have the exact measurement at hand, but I know that a Sycthe Ninja is either just right, or just too tall for the door to be closed when used with a 120mm famn. So I'd definitely need something a few cm shorter.
The motherboard is an Asus A8R-MVP. I don't seem to be able to adjust the fan speed using Speedfan (not sure if it's because Q-Fan is on), and it's almost always at 3.5-4k RPM which is a tad noisy.
I quite like the Akasa AK876. The price is right given for my obsoleting equipment.

Yeah, I was looking at that before I started this thread. But according to the SPCR review, it's not really one you would install inside a case.
Re: Are there any S939 Heatsink that can be fitted directly in the case
What was the reason for that? I thought it was a good cooler.
Re: Are there any S939 Heatsink that can be fitted directly in the case
I wasn't clear in my last post. I mean that it's not one you would install directly on the motherboard while it is in the case. I am looking for a quick and dirty swap (remove, clean, install - without the hassle of unscrewing the motherboard, removing the power/SATA/IDE cables from my 5 HD and 2 optical drives, audio cables and so on) :)
Re: Are there any S939 Heatsink that can be fitted directly in the case
Just for ref, with simple coolers, I tend just to take the screws out and leave all the components in situ, just pull the board up about 45ยบ, then put the cooler on like that. Saves a lot of hassle. Freezer 64 pro should be the dirty swap you're after though, and will certainly cool well.
Re: Are there any S939 Heatsink that can be fitted directly in the case
Careful you don't fasten it so the locking mechanism pushes into the cooling fins, idiot shop did that one mine. Have since redone it myself, much better job. Only reason I took it into that shop was because I didn't have a spare 939 board, and they didn't even bother to test it.

Ahh right I forgot about what you said in your 1st post.
