Installing an i7 processor.

I am about to install a i7 chip into a motherboard, this is the first time I have installed a LGA style processor, are there any does or dont's I should known about, likewise with the heat sink, Is there and orientation on the cooler? I will be using the stock cooler for the moment. Seems to have locking push pins.

No orientation on cooler, push pins are simple. LGA requires a lot more force on the lever than you expect, but it's fine.

Pins are notoriously easily bent. Take extreme care.
Heatsink orientation I'm afraid I can't help you with. Mine is a Noctua. But from what I've seen, it shouldn't matter provided that you are not fouling the components on the board. The manual for the board should cover this.

That is why I took out scan-sure on the board, thought it worth an extra 7 pounds for the piece of mind.

Generally, when installing the cooler, push down on 2 diagonal pins at the same time until it clicks into place, and the same for the other 2 pins. I would highly recommend you do this outside of the case, that way you can double-check if the pins have correctly gone through the motherboard on the other side. The stock cooler is round in shape so there is no correct orientation. And there are a few videos on YouTube if you are having difficulty.
