Which gaming headsets are good?

I am after a gaming headset - a mic is a must.
I am happy to spend around £40 for a decent one. They must be of the type that covers your ears with soft "pads"
I am not bothered about wired or wireless but I am not willing to sacrifice quality for wirelessness.
They must work with the outputs of an Asus P5k-E Wifi/Ap motherboard which has an HD Presumably stereo output on the front of my case.
It also has both SPDIF outputs on the back.
I alos have a Radeon 4870 which I believe also had a built in sound card.

BF2/mods you can tell where people are shooting/stalking you from

COD4, not played it much online but so far it's a similar story.

If I had to buy again I wouldn't look at another brand.

I got a Creative Fata1ty one for like £20 on offer. Used it alot, but then i got this 5.1 System for £35 and it's just SOOOOOOOOOO much better.

But the Fata1ty one is good. Cheap too.

I have the Fatal1ty one too, and I'm very happy with it, great sound quality and love the fact that the mic is detachable.

I was looking around for an article on this. I recently picked up the Logitech G35. Mainly because I have many Logitech products and I have never had a problem (touch wood).

So yeah they come in at a heavy price, but so far I think they are fantastic. Drown out any background sound and a lot of the people I chat online with vent noticed an improvement in my mic quality.

So if you have some extra dosh hanging around I would say pick up a pair.

Have the Seenheisser PC151 and PC161, both cracking peices of kit.

Sound direction on stereo headphones is more down to the soundcard than the headset.

X-Fi (not Xtreme Audio or USB variants) or Xonar (Not DS) for decent surround virtualisation over stereo headphones.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have ordered the Sennheiser PC Range PC 151 headset
I would have gone for something by logitech simply for their legendary customer service, but their premium hadset looked too cheap and the G35 is £80. If it was £30 cheaper it would have been a no brainer.
