The reason to not let the general public review your kit

I feel really sorry for Logitech.

    http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/webcam...s/devices/6065

It's a £12 webcam from most places... and look what people say about it.

I don't rate this product at all. It works for a while until you've had it a few months, then it decides not to work. Rubbish. I want a new webcam but i don't want to be disapointed again. I tried to take the webcam back to PCWorld but they wouldn't refund me because I had the product longer than when the guarantee for it ran out so I wasn't pleased. So therefore I think Logitech should refund everyone who has this rubbish product their money back, or give us a decent product that definatley works and won't play up after a few months!
    and

i have just bought this webcam and i have installed it to my laptop with the disc provided and it was already to use but i was very dissopointed becuase it doesnt work, ive tried to re-upload it to makesure i have done it right and still no change from the previous.
dont buy this product, after a while the lead goes all horrible, and when you plug it in your laptop/computer, it wont work. do not recommend at all.
nowt like a reasoned set of complaints huh?

People who can't get a webcam to work = people who shouldn't review them.

Yeah - for £12 it's almost a disposable item! I bought a C500 a few months ago - just to use with Skype - and it is excellent - cost about £30!

Re: The reason to not let the general public review your kit

Imo it is a good way to get feedback for the product.

If they can be bothered to set up the review part, they are more likely to see it which means they are more likely to know they have a crap product, so they correct the flaws with it, rerelease the product and in the long run get less 1 star reviews

Yes, but those reviews on a £12 camera - what were they expecting?

Something that works more than a few months?

    Although isn't a minimum warranty a year?

Either way, I don't expect quality results, but something functional.

Minimum warranty is six months, effectively.

I remember one that made me laugh, it was the Dyson portable hoover. The lady reviewing it on Amazon said "I can't believe the battery only lasts 20 minutes, I mean my laptop can do 4 hours"

The ironic thing is, has anyone ever had to experience the logitech customer service/warranty support?

Because it is nothing short of _fantastic_, i have never delt with such competent, useful, helpful & understanding staff in my time in buying computer staff!

Re: The reason to not let the general public review your kit

Logitech's customer support is fantastic. You cant really expect much for £12, I'd also bet if they'd bothered to go to logitech with their problems they'd be sorted and happy. Seems most wanted to throw a tantrum instead because it didn't work right away or they knackered the cable yanking the cam around.

Re: The reason to not let the general public review your kit

I guess the problem with low value items is that it's barely worth the cost of postage to RMA. I expect my electronics to last at least one, if not two years regardless of their actual cost (assuming they are new, no refurb parts and there is no mishandling on my part).

Re: The reason to not let the general public review your kit

I agree that for £12 you can't expect much, but you should be able to expect a product to continue to work for a more than "a few months", regardless of cost.

While I agree that the Logitech support is fantastic - certainly the best I've used along with Kustom PCs and unexpectedly just behind Dell monitor support - some of their products are lacking in quality, and not just their bottom-end products. I've got 2 MX Revolutions, which is obviously one of the best mice ever released, yet neither of them charge correctly. At one point both have plain refused to charge, just flashing a red light at me (there's a 'fix' which involves changing a part of the dock, but Logitech haven't recognised it), and even without that I have to... wait for it... lick my finger and rub it on the terminals on both mice or they won't charge... I mean, WTF?

I'm still a huge Logitech fan, but there are quality control issues on some of their products, even their best ones. It's not all user error.

To be honest if someone can't do something as simple as installing a webcam they shouldn't be using a computer.

People who write English like that don't deserve to live, let alone have a computer. I'm surprised they figured out breathing on their own.

People can't help being dim or thick, they should have paid more attention when they were at school and not played truant when it was time for an English lesson.
