    Short news on Upcoming 5870/5850!

    Morning folks,

Just saw this over at vr-zone in relation to the upcoming AMD/ATI 5000 series cards, news is still lite but something better than nothing!

    http://vr-zone.com/articles/-rumour-....html?doc=7469

I wonder how their 5000 series cards will perform in terms of performance wise for multimedia purposes, e.g. HTPC?

    well....

    a) these are likely to be the high end gaming cards, so they're unlikely to be on many people's shopping list for a HTPC!
    b) there's nothing in that list of new features to suggest many upgrades to UVD2, so I imagine they'll be pretty similar to the existing 4-series in that respect.

tbh UVD2 already has full hardware decoding of 1080p HD content and assistance for picture-in-picture display, so there's not a lot else they could add...

If ATI could add multichannel LPCM to their next generation of integrated graphics it would be great!!
