Software Overclocking an ATI Graphics Card

I have recently discovered a method to overclock one's graphics card using only the ATI catalyst driver (I have a Radeon HD 3850), here's the link:

Has anyone used this method to overclock before? What is your experience with it? How is the Auto-Tune?

The auto-tune is fine. Most of the time you can just slide both sliders to the max and the card will still run fine. The overclocking is well within the headroom of the design.

The only problem is to get over the "maximum" value. Which needs Rivatuner.

Yes its very good and works really well, and it's safer than using third party software, although if you have a good graphics card in the first place there is no need to overclock.

I have two Sapphire HD 4890 OC Edition cards and they rock, I haven't even bothered to overclock them. although I think I could get at least 980MHz to probably 1000MHz out of these cards.

Well the answers in the name of the software. It's easy and safe so that no-one says "your software broke my gpu"
They set the max to well within the max OC so its a safe bet.

Should give a nice little boost. But as others have said, it will never really push the card to the max.

For that, look at ATi Tool, or Rivatuner.

And if you're overclocking, don't forget that it can generate more heat, so make sure your cooling is upto the job.
