    Cheapest Inkjet/CD Printer

I'm looking for the cheapest Inkjet printer that also prints CD's.

    Simple.

    Cheers,
    Kez.

Yeah I am too, but I'm wondering if there's anything cheaper out there.

Cheaper printer, but cartridges twice the price.

(DON'T get me started on "refill" carts!)

Just recently purchased a canon i865 unfortunately the shop I bought from has bumped the price back up. I managed buy one £20 cheaper in a camera shop but still quite expensive I guess. Loading and printing CD's is easy and the results are very good. Seperate ink tanks for each colour will save you money in the long run. Cheap ink cartridges are easily obtained and work well enough if economy is your main concern. I have been running a Canon6300 A3 printer for 2 years now on the cheapest ink cartridges with a throughput of 1200 prints per month and nothing bad has happened. The cheap inks do bleed into poor quality papers but you can tweak the printer preferences and reduce the intensity 20% to fix this problem although not as vibrant obviously. In my experience the cheap ink doesn't seem to block the nozzles like the manufacturers would like you believe. If you get nozzle problems that will not clear with the deep cleaning you can easily replace the print head unit which locks into the print caddy with a leaver. I have not had to do this and don't know the cost but it should make everything as good as new. Paper handling is generally very well behaved and on the rare occasion it decides to feed the entire lot of paper through in one go I am pleased to report no damage is done.

The running cost is where all your money will go unless of course you don't intend to print very much. I havn't had the i865 very long but it seems solid and reliable so far and I have every confidence it will be as good and cheap to run as my A3 printer.

Hey the R200 looks good and I have an Epson now.

Cheers guys, it'll be the R200 probably, but if not it'll be the Canon.
