Non-plastic cased laptop sub £700
Not looking at silly prices, may be max £700.
After something special that isn't in a plastic case. Around 15" screen and above. And prefer compete coverage instead of "accents" that Dell use.
Some models I've seen so far:
Acer Timeline - price is bumped up for portability and battery life that isn't a requirement for me.
Asus U6V Bamboo - screen smaller than like, over budget, not sure if bamboo would contract with age and heat.
Sony VAIO FW series - looks best option so far. Magnesium case.

I'm out of date with particular models, but my old Samsung was also magnesium and a reasonable price, so maybe they're still doing that for some models?

The dell M1*30's are all aluminium and magnesium.

Sonys are lovely though :)

I used to get shocks from my M1330, although strangely, these seem to have ceased now (although it might possibly be the different charger that I usually use). It was never a big problem though to be honest...they're absolutely tiny, and just feels a bit tingly when moving your hand over it.
Are the Sony FW's all magnesium? The girlfriend has one, and I could have sworn that the screen casing at least feels rather plasticky? (That may just be me though?)
Re: Non-plastic cased laptop sub £700
I'm not sure if the Sony FW series is fully mangesium cased, suppose unless paying considerably more it is just limited to area around keyboard. I really need to visit a shop to see one in the flesh.
Watched a review on Youtube and the XPS 1530 isn't fully aluminium, just the palm rest part to give it a premium feel. And since doing searches it seems there was lots of very good deals for this model at Dell outlet :(
