1)Mu Pc was advertised as having a 750 gb HDD, it shows up on my comp as 689.
2) All I have left is 390 gb,all my movies and games add up to roughly 120 gb.
So the rest of my system is taking up 179 gb?
Does this make sense?

1) It should show as 732GB.... maybe there is a recovery partition on there if this is a pre-assembled PC?
2) Dunno, Vista certainly wouldn't take up that much room, something definitely sounds amiss..... you can't see anything else on the HDD? Right-click "computer" then click "manage" then "disk management" and that should give you a clearer idea of what is taking up all the room. :)
What make is the PC ? Some have a hidden partition for Re-installing Windows and other programs from.
EDIT: Didn't notice GSte already said it.
Well its an HP m9000t, and there's a partition called Factory Image which i think is for recovery and its 10 gb, my PC also came with programs but u think it would take up that much space??
Actually, 689G(i)B is about right for a 750GB drive. Wonderful case of GB vs GiB (but you already know that as you did part of the calculation).
Even so, 169GB (179GB minus the recovery partition) is a lot if it's just the OS/Apps. Can you just Right click -> Properties the various directory on your drive and note an approximation of the size? You should be able to narrow down where, and then find out what is taking up all the space.
I think there are even tools that break down the main things taking space on your HD on a pie chart, but I forgot where I saw it. It shouldn't be too hard figuring out where 169GB has gone missing.
umm I just checked now and it says 491 gb free? I know I'm not crazy because I remember seeing
"298 gb used", I ran disk defragmenter and disk check yesterday so maybe now because it's the next day my comp realized? I know I didn't delete 100gb
I doubt the defragmenter/disk check would make that much difference to be honest unless there are quite a lot of things that weren't deleted properly and fixed by disk check (it should say so though). I still find temporary insanity a more likely explanation though :)
I saw IT!!!! 0.o
